Weather is a series of short-term events that can change dramatically from one day to the next. Climate is the typical weather – including temperature, rainfall and other conditions – that occurs over the long term. The climate of a particular place is both the average weather – over a period of at least a decade and generally about 20 to 30 years – and the range of weather conditions over that timescale.
