Work to complete the restoration of Flying Scotsman will continue apace as a milestone moment in the project has been completed - the frames indicate no significant problems and there are only minor issues with the condition of the cylinders.

Recreating an ambulance carriage

World War One ambulance train

To commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the First World War, we are focusing on a wartime railway story which is perhaps less well-known. From July 2016, our exhibition will tell the story of the ambulance trains used to transport sick and injured troops, both in theatres of war and in the UK.
