    Today the Science Museum Group announced record-breaking audience figures, with 5,549,000 visiting the Group's museums in 2015/16. Despite the challenges York tourism faced following the Boxing Day Flooding in 2015, three-quarters of a million people visited the National Railway Museum – an increase of 3.1%.

    Visitors will be able to see some of the iconic locomotives at the National Railway Museum come to life after dark this week in its seventh annual lighting design spectacular, 'Locos in a Different Light'. The free-entry event runs every evening until 10pm from 28–31 October as part of the city-wide Illuminating York festival, which is celebrating its landmark tenth anniversary this year.
