Competition terms and conditions

'Show us your bakes' Competition

To coincide with this year’s The Great British Bake Off, the Countess of York has launched its own bake off competition. We're offering keen bakers the chance to have their favourite baked homemade treat made available as part of the afternoon tea menu for one month.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. The closing date is Wednesday 14 October 2015 at 21:00. Winners will be contacted by 17:00 on Thursday 15 October.
  2. Entrants must be 16 or over.
  3. One winner’s recipe will feature on the Countess of York afternoon tea menu for one month.
  4. The winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received.
  5. Only one entry per person.
  6. The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.
  7. The competition is not open to National Railway Museum or Science Museum Group employees.
  8. Any personal data submitted with consent will be kept by the National Railway Museum for the purpose of sending out prizes.
  9. All entrants will be automatically opting in to join our Countess of York e-newsletter database and receive future National Railway Museum family e-newsletters/e-shots.
  10. By entering the competition by email you automatically give consent for your name to be used for possible social media/marketing promotion (e.g. Facebook and on our website)
  11. Any complaints about fairness can be taken up by contacting the National Railway Museum’s marketing team.
  12. The winners will be contacted after the closing date by a member of the National Railway Museum marketing team. If a winning entrant cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, the National Railway Museum reserves the right to stand down that entrant and select another winner.
  13. The National Railway Museum’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  14. The National Railway Museum reserves the right to alter/cancel the competition without any prior warning.
  15. The National Railway Museum reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time, including altering or substituting the prize.

Overheard Train Conversations – Disclaimer

The National Railway Museum are collecting your ‘Overheard Train Conversations’ to form the basis of a public theatre show that will be free to our museum audience over the duration of the school summer holidays (18 July – 6 September 2015). Your contribution or part of the contribution may be used within the final theatre piece, but will not be credited to you. The purpose of this disclaimer is to ensure that you understand that by submitting your ‘Overheard Train Conversation’ contribution via the National Railway Museum’s social media channels (Twitter and Facebook), you are agreeing that we may use them, uncredited, as part of our summer activities. Your details will be kept confidentially in line with our Privacy Policy.

Data Protection

Data held by Science Museum Group/National Railway Museum, is held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will not be passed to or sold to any other organisation.
