Volunteer at Shildon

Volunteering at NRM Shildon

Volunteers at Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon, are involved in a whole host of different activities. Thanks to their kind assistance, we are able to provide our visitors with a fantastic day out and a chance to enjoy one of the finest railway collections in the world.

We are always pleased to take on new volunteers, so check out our opportunities below and see how you can get involved.

Currently we have the following opportunities available:

A placement is available to learn on the job by participating in the daily activities in our workshops. This placement will include restoration and conservation work, painting, assembly and disassembly, planning and photography, as well as work on live steam operating locomotives. See the North of England Civic Trust's EHSI page for more details.
