Our archive and library collections
Our archives hold the 'raw materials' of railway history: letters, technical reports, engineering drawings and much more.
Working drawings for steam locos, carriages and wagons.
We have approximately 20,000 books in the Book Collection, spanning pre-railway history up to the present day.
We have a collection of around 800 journals (or 'serials') – and we're still collecting 300 of them today.
Everything from railway tickets to fabrics used to furnish carriages.
