How far are you from York railway station?

Less than five minutes' walk.


Can delegates and corporate event guests park for free?

Yes, we have parking for up to 500 cars – and it’s complimentary for all conference delegates and evening event guests. Please ask your event coordinator for further information.


What is your sustainability policy?

With a view to gaining BS 8901 accreditation for sustainable event management, the NRM events team is committed to creating sustainable events.

We already:

  • Serve filtered water in all conferences rather than bottled water
  • Have signed up the 10:10 campaign, which is aiming to cut 10% of the UK’s emissions in 2010.
  • Have recycling bins in all conference rooms
  • Use seasonal and local produce where possible for buffets and dinners
  • Encourage delegates to use public transport

Can we get married at the Museum?

The National Railway Museum holds a civil ceremony licence – see our Weddings and events page for more details.


Can we bring our own catering?

Delectable and creative cuisine is provided by our exclusive caterers, Milburns. Delicious canapés, appetising bowl food and exquisite banquets are a speciality. With food freshly prepared on site, making the most of Yorkshire’s finest produce, you'll soon realise why we welcome guests back time and time again.


Do you have WiFi?

Yes, complimentary WiFi is available in the conference centre.


Do your meeting rooms have natural daylight?

Yes, all of our meeting rooms have natural daylight (with the exception of the Gibb Theatre).


Are your meeting rooms accessible?

All our rooms are fully accessible and are one-level. A hearing loop is installed in the Walker Suite. Please see our Facilities and Access page for more information.


Can we hold an event in a carriage?

Meetings, dinners and other celebrations can be held in Valiant, our new events carriage. Stationed in a nostalgic railway livery, this beautiful carriage is lavishly furnished with period veneers. Due to conservation requirements, it is not possible to use any of our Collection vehicles for events.


Can I drive a train?

What is your largest daytime conference capacity?

We can seat up to 140 people, theatre-style, in the Morton Suite. Larger daytime conference facilities for up to 300 are available at our sister venue, the National Media Museum in Bradford. www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/corporate


What is your largest evening dinner capacity?

We can seat up to 700 for dinner in Station Hall.
