Who's the oldest?
The longest life on record is that of Jeanne Calment, who was 122 years old when she died in 1997. Shirechiyo Izumi of Japan was thought by many to be the world’s oldest man when he died aged 120 in 1986, although his age has been disputed. Elsewhere in the world there have been unconfirmed reports of people living even longer.
