What is population genetics?
Population genetics studies the genetic make-up of populations, looking at whether genetic material stays constant and what genetic changes have occurred within populations over time. These changes can be caused by environmental changes, randome changes from one generation to the next, migration or genetic mutations. By studying the pattern of these changes and their effect on genetic characteristics in different populations, researchers are building up a picture of human evolution, including routes of migration around the world and relationships between people alive today.
