The Science Museum Library London closed to its readers on 3 February 2014.
All books, journals, other collections and card catalogue from the Library are being moved to our Wroughton Library for storage there. All library services for the public have now ceased, including enquiries, document supply and reading room facilities.
The Science Museum is to create a new research centre at our South Kensington site. The centre will provide a world-class environment for academic research and a greater connection between our objects, library and archive collections.
Bringing together our thriving Research and Public History Department with access to our library and archive collections, the Research Centre will open in the autumn of 2015. The Centre will include the best history of science technology and medicine books, journals and electronic resources. while paving the way for the development of the new research centre.
We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause, especially for those who used our London collections regularly. There are other libraries that can be used for you can use to research the history of science, technology and medicine, including:
