Deep Blue cafe in the Wellcome Wing during an event

The Wellcome Wing

The Science Museum’s most contemporary event space and home to the IMAX cinema, offers four breathtaking galleries situated in front of an immense blue glass wall.

In the ground floor gallery, which can accommodate dinners for up to 350 or receptions for 6450, guests can take a close look at a changing Antenna exhibition programme devoted to science and technology news, or experience the thrill of the multi-sensory Legend of Apollo simulator ride.

The first-floor Who am I? gallery re-opened in June 2010 after a six month upgrade and refurbishment programme. The new gallery presents the latest brain science and genetics through a mixture of interactive exhibits and object-rich displays. New interactives enable guests to morph their face and experience a voicebox makeover, whilst learning about what makes us all unique.

The atmosphere: exploring climate science opened in December 2010 on the second floor of the Wellcome Wing. The new gallery puts people at the centre of the climate change story and an immersive, interactive experience literally responds to the actions and decisions guests to the gallery make. This smaller gallery will offer an events space for evening receptions, with a capacity of up to 180 standing.

The third-floor In Future gallery offers a tantalising glimpse of the future and invites you to say what you think about the technology that may well be common in twenty years' time. The gallery also has three novel, multi-user games, enabling your guests to explore technologies that are already being developed – they can even vote for the ones that they’d like to see become a part of everyday life.

The whole Wellcome Wing can cater for major receptions in excess of 1000 guests. Individually, the upper levels offer varying capacities for conferences and exhibitions, receptions or intimate dinners.

By virtue of its award-winning architecture, futuristic ambience and innovative interactive elements, the Wellcome Wing is the definitive venue for any forward-thinking company.
