We are currently reviewing our membership scheme and will be re-launching a new programme in due course. Unfortunately that does mean we are not accepting new members at this time.


Please be assured that existing memberships with continue as usual.

What are the different kinds of membership?
Individual: suitable for one person
Member plus one: suitable for any two people
Concession: children under 16, those over 60 and students
Family*: two adults and two children or 1 adult and three children all living at the same address

*Add a child: add additional children to family membership only.

NB: If you would like to add a student to the family membership please contact the membership team.

Help - I didn’t receive my joining email?
Contact the membership team (9.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday) and we'll check we have the right address and send you another.

What if my membership card has not arrived yet?
Just take your confirmation email to the Membership Desk in the museum and we'll give you a temporary card.

How do I activate my membership?
If you have received a membership pack containing an activation code please call the membership team on 0207 942 4333.  

How can I get a replacement card?
Just call the membership team on 0207 942 4333 and they will be able to send you a replacement for a fee of £5.

Do I need to RSVP for member events?
Yes, unless otherwise stated. If you wish to attend a member event booking is required as places are limited. To book for an event just contact the membership team at membership@sciencemuseum.org.uk or 0207 942 4333.

What is the duration of my membership?
A membership is for one year.

Can I use my membership at other museums? 
Yes. Through the Association of Science-Technology Centers Program you will have the opportunity to explore other Science museums nationally and internationally. Visit their website out to find out more details about which museums are part of the programme. 

Terms and conditions

  • Free access to exhibitions , the IMAX® 3D cinema and other attractions is subject to availability. Members are strongly advised to pre-book tickets to avoid disappointment.
  • Where an activity is at full capacity,
    members will be able to enter at the next available opportunity.
  • Membership cards are non-transferable.
  • Membership cards are not valid after their expiry date and remain the property of the Science Museum at all times.
  • An administration charge of £5 will be made for lost or replacement membership cards.
  • All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • We reserve the right to refuse entry and/or cancel the membership without refund if the card holder, or anyone accessing an attraction by virtue of a membership, behaves in a threatening or abusive way to our staff, contractors or the collection.
  • Entrance to the Museum remains subject to all other standard terms and conditions of entry.

Please note that due to volume of visitors during peak holiday times, members are strongly advised to choose alternative dates to ensure an enjoyable experience.

The Science Museum is a member of the National Museum of Science & Industry which is an exempt charity under the Second Schedule of the Charities Act (1960) and is recognised as charitable by HM Revenue and Customs.
