The Science Museum Group Journal

The Science Museum Group Journal is a new voice in discussions worldwide about science, its history, material culture, communication and presentation in museums. We invite you to join the conversation.

The Science Museum is a catalyst for generating new knowledge, whether in understanding the relationships between science and society now and in the past, developing skills in conserving scientific objects, or researching new ways to display and communicate science.

We feel this knowledge would significantly benefit the wider scholarly community. So, for the first time, research relevant to the activity and interests of the Science Museum Group is receiving its own outlet: an online, peer-reviewed journal, free and accessible to all.

Issue 03 is on the theme of Communications, partly celebrating the opening of Information Age, the Science Museum’s new permanent gallery on the history of communications. Articles in Issue 03 cover the following topics:

The Journal is published twice yearly, with scholarly articles by both internal and external authors whose work touches on the collections, practice and concerns of the Science Museum Group - including the Science Museum in London, Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester, National Railway Museum in York and Shildon, and National Media Museum in Bradford - and the wider international science museum community.

We are currently inviting authors to submit articles for consideration. If you would like to contribute to the Journal please look at our submission guidelines.

If you have any questions about the journal please contact: journal@sciencemuseum.ac.uk.
