The Smith Centre

The Smith Centre at the Science Museum was opened 24 October 2006 by Her Majesty the Queen.

It is an elegant and exclusive venue, which all of our patrons are invited to share. Patrons can make use of the Smith Centre on an informal basis during weekdays, as well as to pre-book one of our rooms for a private meeting or evening event.

The Smith Centre also plays host to some of the exclusive events offered to our patrons - talks, receptions and behind-the-scenes viewings or our world-class collections.

It is designed to bring together leading figures in business, science, culture and academia for discussions and debates on the major scientific issues of the day, and to encourage greater private-sector philanthropic support for the Science Museum, as well as the other NMSI Museums: the National Railway Museum and the National Media Museum.

The Smith Centre was funded by the Martin Smith Foundation, the charitable foundation of the Smith family. The Foundation aims to support people and projects in the arts, sciences and education.
