Green machine
The Wellcome Wing has its own mini power station - a combined heat and power generator, known as PowerStation.
PowerStation runs on natural gas. Although it works like a traditional generator, it's far more efficient, turning three-quarters of the fuel's energy into useful heat and electricity. Most power stations lose about 60 per cent of the energy from the fuel they burn as wasted heat.
