Carbon dioxide is one of six greenhouse gases. It's not the most powerful, but it does make up about 90% of our emissions.

On paper, replacing fossil fuels with biofuels looks like a great way to cut CO2. Whereas fossil fuels release age-old carbon into the air, burning biofuels only releases as much CO2 as the biofuel crops have been absorbing from the air as they grow.

Sadly there's a catch - emissions from burning the biofuel are only part of the story...
