Do biofuels work well in cars?
One biofuel bonus is that the fuels are so much like the fossil fuels we use already.
Bio-ethanol is a bit more corrosive than petrol, but most petrol engines can take 10% of the biofuel mixed into petrol without too many problems. And with small modifications to the engines, even 100% bio-ethanol is OK.
Most diesel engines can cope with small amounts of bio-diesel too, and up to 100% if all the rubber seals in the engine are switched to stop the bio-diesel rotting them.
