By 2011 the UK government wants all biofuel suppliers to prove their crops are grown in a sustainable way that doesn't wreck rainforests.

But even growing crops here in Britain could have unforeseen effects, explains biomass scientist Angela Karp:

'We're currently looking at biofuel crops in two different regions of England to make sure that growing these crops doesn't affect local wildlife - or even tourism.'
