Rising sea levels
As water gets warmer, it expands. So as the Earth's temperature rises the oceans expand, causing sea levels around the world to rise.
The effects are already being felt in low-lying countries, like Bangladesh, and in the UK we're planning for rising sea levels by strengthening our coastal defences.
In the coming years, millions of people around the world could be forced to leave their homes and become 'climate refugees'.
