Headed our way!

In 2004, astronomers spotted a new asteroid, around 320 metres long, which was later named 99942 Apophis. It was named after the ancient Egyptian god Apep 'the Destroyer'.

The naming could be apt, for the asteroid is heading for a very near miss with the Earth.
