Dimensionally challenged
We all experience the standard four dimensions - three-dimensional space, plus time - but some scientists think there could be up to 26 dimensions in total! So where are they? The idea is that they are incredibly, incredibly small - but the LHC might be able to detect them. 'If we can look at smaller and smaller things, we may see that they can move in extra dimensions,' says Gian Giudice, a theoretical physicist working on the LHC.
