Amazing events

When two particles smash together head on the results are amazing - scientists go so far as to call it an 'event'.

In each event, a collision produces a burst of different particles that shoot off in all directions. And with 600 million collisions a second there's an awful lot to keep tabs on - but scientists have top-of-the-range detectors to record it all.
