Small is beautiful

The surgeon follows the dye from the patient's breast to her armpit, makes a small incision and takes away just the sentinel node and two or three nodes around it. These are sent to the lab for testing.

If the patient gets the cancer all-clear, she shouldn't need any further operations. She won't need to have all her underarm lymph nodes removed.
