How do you design a building that uses less energy than it makes? This is the aim of a zero-energy building.
One answer is not to have any central heating! You might think you'll freeze in the winter, but...
If architects think carefully about a building's design, it's possible to do away with heating altogether, which saves on energy and heating bills. It also means that renewable energy sources will supply enough energy for all the electricity needs.
