A breath of fresh air

Buildings have to be well ventilated. Normally, small vents let air in and out, which makes it chilly in winter. And energy would be needed to heat the air inside to keep the place comfortable.

Wouldn't it be better to somehow to use the warmth of the outgoing air to heat the cooler air coming in?
