No sweat
No air conditioning - no sweat. That's if you're inside the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) at University College London. Built in 2005 for the climate of the future, it was designed by architect Alan Short to use a low-energy alternative to air conditioning.
Low-energy ventilation relies on air movement. Without movement the air becomes stuffy and stale, and the building overheats. To find out how air would flow through the SSEES building, architect Alan Short asked airflow expert Andrew Woods to put the innovative design to the test.
