Buildings are energy hungry - lighting, heating, hot water and electrical appliances all consume energy. According to building-energy expert Derek Clements-Croome, 'Buildings account for around 50 per cent of the UK's national energy consumption.'

Using this amount of energy releases over
27 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. This greenhouse gas contributes to climate change. Imagine if all buildings were capable of meeting their energy needs from clean, renewable energy sources. It's possible if you've got the technology...
