Seventy years ago, a light that came on at the flick of a switch was state of the art. Future home technology will connect all your appliances to a home network so you can control them remotely by the Internet, phone or ultimately via a communication badge.
It will be a case of 'turn the washing machine on, Scotty!' Except Scotty's been replaced by
voice-recognition software and some clever technology.
