Terra: hot air detective

Most of the Earth's energy comes direct from our nearest star, 150 million kilometres away. The planet's temperature stays on an even keel because some energy radiates back into space.

But is our atmosphere heating up?

Climate change may be upsetting this natural balance, keeping too much solar energy trapped in our atmosphere. So say NASA scientists, who have launched a new satellite called Terra to investigate.
