Is our atmosphere heating up?

NASA's new Terra satellite is flying 705 kilometres above the Earth to find out if our atmosphere is heating up.

The CERES sensor on board the satellite is monitoring how incoming solar radiation interacts with the Earth and its atmosphere.

Each CERES instrument measures reflected sunlight, heat radiation and total radiation levels to monitor how much energy the Earth is reflecting back into space.
