Up, up and away
Climate experts know that the Earth's surface has become dramatically hotter in the recent past.
More worryingly, they estimate that warming has speeded up in the last 20 years, with the 1990s the warmest decade on record.
But if scientists are to understand climate change they also need to measure the temperature of the air high above our planet. One way to do this is by using a weather balloon.
