Back on the ground
Findings from Halley are analysed back in Britain at the Met Office.
The results have shown experts that the temperature of the lower atmosphere, known as the troposphere, is also rising.
But there are still plenty of uncertainties that are puzzling scientists. Data on upper-air temperature from satellites and radiosondes has shown them that the rise in temperature in the troposphere is smaller than expected.
