Canada in the deep end . . .
Scientist Roland Gehrels studies the different species of foram preserved in peat dug from saltmarshes washed by daily tides. He has found that sea levels in parts of Nova Scotia in Canada have risen by half a metre in the last 250 years.
'Sea level today is rising faster than at any time in the past - and global warming is to blame.' Roland Gehrels, Plymouth University
