Small island developing states

The world's first climate refugees were evacuated to New Zealand from Tuvalu, a small island state, at threat as sea levels rose in 2001. Now Barbados, Cuba, Fiji, the Seychelles, Mauritius and the Maldives are also at risk.

These low-lying, mainly tropical, small island states are particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and storm damage.
