Carbon capture

About a third of global carbon dioxide emissions are from large power stations that burn fossil fuels. But soon, the waste gases they emit could be passed through a solvent that soaks up the carbon dioxide.

Even better would be to remove the carbon dioxide from fossil fuels before they're burnt. New power station designs will react the fuel with air and steam, forming carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The hydrogen could power the turbines, and the carbon dioxide could be kept for storage.
