Cloud seeding

The last thing most of us want to see is clouds overhead. But John Latham and Tom Choularton disagree - they want more clouds, to help to cool the planet.

Low clouds tend to reflect sunlight, away friom the Earth, keeping it cooler. Professor Latham and Professor Choularton are studying ways of making them more reflective and longer-lasting.

'If clouds hang around for longer then they will scatter more sunlight and offset global warming'. Tom Choularton, UMIST and Tyndall Centre
