The problem with panels
Try wrapping a solar panel round your waist. Unless you're very hip, you're not likely to get away with it.
The problem with solar panels is that they're not flexible - they use glass as a backing for the silicon coat that catches the Sun's rays.
Why glass? Well, to make the panels, materials are heated to over 200 °C, and glass is the only material that can stand it. But that's set to change.
