It's 2050 and we've cleaned up our act - powering our homes using solar panels on our roofs, and wind turbines in our gardens.

But could storm-force winds or heat waves cause power overload? And if the wind drops and the sun goes in, how do we know that the lights will stay on?

Leicester scientists are making a virtual model of a future solar city to see how the national grid will cope under the strain of clean energy.
