The roof over our head
The Science Museum needs a new roof for its largest exhibition area - the East Hall, home to the red mill engine. But instead of an ordinary glass roof, we're planning to install one that generates electricity.
The new roof will incorporate solar panels and a demonstration wind turbine. It will let in more natural light, so the Museum will also be able to save electricity.
And it will also improve ventilation for the East Hall, creating a better environment for exhibits - and visitors.
