Nose job
Concorde's unique slender shape was designed to improve her aerodynamics so that she could fly at supersonic speeds. Engineers designed a long needle-shaped nose and large wing span to maximise lift and keep air drag to a minimum.
But the long nose caused problems - pilots could not see where they were flying during take-off or landing. To beat the problem engineers created the 'droop-nose'. This can be lowered to two positions - a 5 degrees droop for takeoff and 12.5 degrees for approach and landing.
