First flights
'Passengers of Air France flight 085 are kindly requested to go to the embarking gate'.
This announcement, made at midday in hall 5 of Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, marked the beginning of a very special aeronautical event. Flight 085, which left Paris for Rio at 12.40 on 21 January 1976, was Concorde's first commercial flight. As a symbol of thirteen years' collaboration, a British Airways Concorde took off at exactly the same time from London Heathrow for its first flight to Bahrain.
