Trip your trigger

Habib has been working with scientists at Brunel University to develop fasteners that trigger with changes in heat, electric current or magnetic field. Tripping the right trigger changes the fastener's shape, making it open.

Smart materials respond to triggers because they have shape memory. This means they 'remember' a previous shape they were moulded into and change back to it when they're triggered.
