From blocky, black-and-white displays, to multiple full-colour screens capable of showing photographs and even TV, phones' screens are one of the biggest recent advances in mobile technology.
New legislation aims to decrease the amount of liquid crystal displays (LCD) in landfill - but small screens won't be counted, so thousands will still end up in the bin.
