The Deep Impact spacecraft isn't the only eye in the sky. Six satellites and spacecraft that are already in space will swivel round to point at the Tempel 1 comet as the craft's missile hits.

And on Earth both professional and amateur astronomers will be using their telescopes to get constant coverage of the event.
