Going public

Watson and Crick's discovery was made public in the prestigious journal Nature on 25 April 1953. These days, it seems like a masterpiece of understatement.

'We wish to suggest a structure for the salt of deoxyribose nucleic acid (D.N.A.). This structure has novel features which are of considerable biological interest.'
James Watson and Francis Crick,
Nature, 25 April 1953
