The stuff of life
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is found in almost every cell inside your body. There's a whopping 1.8 metres of the stuff packed into each tiny cell. Your DNA contains all the information that you need to grow from a fertilised egg into a human being.
A gene is a section of DNA that contains the instructions for producing a particular protein. Your DNA contains around 25,000 genes.
