Swarm intelligence

Working together in a network is a common theme in nature, from a colony of ants to the neurons in your brain. Individuals within a network are much more powerful than they would be on their own.

Now robot swarms are carrying out a wide variety of jobs for scientists around the world, such as garbage collection or greeting visitors to a university campus. But this is the first time experts have investigated if a swarm of robots can help fight fires.
