Hobbit-sized 'human' discovered
The skeleton of a human-like animal only a metre tall has been uncovered in Indonesia - astonished scientists say it's a new species. Remarkably, this tiny rainforest-dwelling creature lived in the same area as full-size people like us only 18,000 years ago.

Antenna examines the evidence.

A cast of the new species' skull is on display at the Science Museum until April 2005.

This research was published in Nature on 28 October 2004.
