An amazing discovery
Digging in an island cave in Indonesia, archaeologists have unearthed an extraordinary 18,000-year-old female skeleton. They named her LB1 after Liang Bua, the site where the skeleton was discovered.
She is clearly related to humans, but only a metre tall. Scientists who've examined the remains believe they've discovered an entirely new species in the human family, which they've named Homo floresiensis after the island of Flores where LB1 was found.
