Small but perfectly formed
LB1 may have been tiny, but it looks like she was brainy too. The last of our ancestors with brains this size - who include the famous fossil skeleton 'Lucy' - did not make stone tools, but it appears that LB1's species did.
Tool-making is an important skill that makes humans different from other animals. Even chimpanzees do not make stone tools in the wild, so it is amazing that LB1's kind, with their chimp-sized brains, had developed this technology.
